A sellout crowd of 16,000 fans came out and rocked with us and headliners Melissa Etheridge, REO Speedwagon and Huey Lewis and the News at the 2016 summer concert event on 23 January produced by Greenstone Entertainment.
It was an incredible day of live music and fantastic wine set in our outdoor concert site located next to the winery and about a 25 minute drive from Queenstown.
Despite forecasts of rain, Mother Nature was on our side granting ideal conditions with temperatures in the low 20s and cloud coverage for most of the day, pretty much the perfect weather for jamming out to classic rock tunes at Queentown's largest annual music event.
Concert gates opened at 11 a.m. to crowds of fans flooding into the site to claim their spot for the day. People came with picnic blankets, snacks, chairs and other essentials to create their own space for enjoying the show.
Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks were allowed in the concert site, but guests also had access to numerous local food vendors who joined us at the concert for the day. There were also several concert bars set up offering beer, cider and a range of wine.
In addition, we hosted our own Gibbston Valley Wine Tasting Tent where fans had access to our premium wine ranges available for tasting and purchase by the glass.
In the VIP Tent, Wine Club members enjoyed covered seating, a great view of the stage and access to premium food and beverages throughout the day.
This experience is reserved only for Wine Club members as part of the VIP Summer Concert packages offered each year.

The concert started around 11:30 a.m. with local artists Best Served Chilled and Near Armageddon warming up the crowd while concert goers got settled in for a day of non-stop rock ’n’ roll hits.
The first headliner, Melissa Etheridge, took the stage at 1 p.m. delighting fans with her raspy rock anthems including “Bring Me Some Water” and “Come To My Window.”
Later on in her set Etheridge was joined by REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin for a special performance of “Take It Easy,” as a tribute to Glenn Fry of The Eagles. Fry died on 18 Jan., 2016.
Next, REO Speedwagon took audiences by storm with their repertoire of hit songs including “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On the Run.”
Huey Lewis and the News were the final act of the day and kept fans rockin’ with their mega hits including “If This is It,” “Heart and Soul” and “Power of Love.”
Thank you to everyone for come out and joining us for another epic event in 2016. Planning is already underway for 2017. Stay tuned for the next summer concert announcement.
