The Kawarau River runs for 3km/1.9mi alongside Gibbston Valley, and offers
excellent trout fishing, and access to water sports, such as kayaking.

The wider region offers some of the best fishing and sport and game hunting,
including an internationally recognised hunting station, Glenroy Hunting Lodge.
